Avalanche warning for region Indre Sogn Saturday 06.04.2019

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Loose wet avalanches and glide avalanches associated with rising temperatures and solar heating can occur. A persistent weak layer of facets is locally present in the alpine, and may cause large avalanches.

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3). Remote triggering is possible.

I østvendte leområder til under skoggrensa ligger det tørr og fersk vindtransportert snø. Vindutsatte områder har is, bart og skareføre. Fra ca 1000 moh og lavere har varme og fukt omdanna den gamle snøen til grovkorna snø.

Det finnes svakt lag av kantkorn i det gamle snødekket under skare og begynnende kantkorndannelse over skare. Kantkorn i det gamle snødekket har den siste tida vært aktivt og kan påvirkes i hovedsak ved stor tilleggsbelastning.

Store skred har tidligere løsnet på et kantkornlag som finnes i høyden. Torsdag ble det observert noen naturlig utløst str. 1 våte løssnøskred i Luster. Det samme ble observert tidligere i uka i Sogndal.

Avalanche risk assessment

Høye temperaturer og soloppvarming vil svekke bindingene i snødekket og øker faren for naturlig utløste våte skred og glideskred. I lune formasjoner kan sola påvirke høyt til fjells. Unngå ferdsel i terreng under sigesprekker.

Etter hvert kan også vedvarende svake lag av kantkorn høyt til fjells lettere påvirkes på grunn av mildværet og fjernutløsning vil være mulig. Vær spesielt oppmerksom i områder med tynt snødekke. Enkelte store naturlig utløste skred kan forekomme i spesielt utsatte heng.
